My client, a leading telecommunications company, has a 3+ month consulting assignment for a Mid Level Redhat Linux Administrator with experience working in a large, 24×7 Data Center/Enterprise environment.
The ideal candidate should be a highly motivated self-starter and committed team player with 6 + years experience in building, configuring, tuning, monitoring, maintaining, and managing Red Hat Linux Servers and underlying hardware.
Day to day responsibilities will include:
. Physical rack management (rack and stack machines) and dress cables
. Update pertinent files (hosts/ethers) with Rack Location, Port Master Port, Machine Type, Netgroup category
. Setup network port for correct VLAN and update port description
. Forecast computer server needs
. Image machines using Kickstart to install Red Hat Enterprise 5X
. Troubleshoot installation issues with Kickstart Servers
. Disk Storage Management and storage allocation.
. Identify, troubleshoot and resolve system performance issues
Required Skills:
- 6+ years experience with Red Hat v5.x & kickstart
- At least 6 years hands on experience building and supporting RedHat Linux
B.S. in Computer Science or related experience
Desired Skills:
4 years experience Host / SAN connectivity (required on Linux)
Experience using scripting languages for task automation (Bash, Bourne,
OpenSSH)
Tomcat, Apache, Kickstart, Sendmail, DNS, NFS, FTP, LDAP, ssh / scp, and DHCP a plus
- Ability to travel to New Jersey data center
