Mid level Linux/Solaris Admimistrator

My client, a well established and growing company located in the Plainview, NY area has an excellent opportunity for a mid level UNIX Administrator. This position is very challenging and offers room for rapid career growth.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for making the production environment network more reliable by performing day-to-day system operations including system monitoring, troubleshooting, problem identification, resolution and restoral following established and documented procedures and with minimal direction.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o 3+ years previous system administration experience on multiple operating systems (Unix Solaris and Red Hat Linux are required).
o Previous experience working in a dynamic, high-pressure production environment with a mid to large site/network and managing systems with a large customer base.
o Strong knowledge of networking and telephony technologies as well as system administration tools and processes.
o Prior knowledge/experience with Internet applications (E-Commerce, News, DNS, DHCP, Mail applications, System Security, System monitoring/management).
o Superior knowledge of server technologies on various operating systems (UNIX Solaris and Linux).
o Good programming skills (Shell, UNIX, Perl, Open Source, Oracle).
o Strong understanding of networking/routing and protocols in a distributed computing environment.
o Degree in Computer Science, engineering, or related field is required.
o SUN and related technology certifications are required.
Days/Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (occasional off-hours for maintenance).
