Responsibilities:

  • Manages MySQL databases in Development/QA/Production Linux environments
  • Works in collaboration with developers, architects, and business stakeholders to create high-performance, cost-effective solutions
  • An active participant in the software release cycle, advising the development team on data architecture
  • Works with lead architect to develop sharding and scaling strategies
  • Configures production system databases and continually benchmarks systems performance and performs tuning when needed
  • Develops a process for maintaining data integrity, error detection and preventing misuses of data
  • Designs, implements, maintains and automates appropriate backup and recovery mechanisms
  • Builds, manages and deploys Linux based hosting infrastructure
  • Researches new database technologies and methodologies

Requirements:

  • Experience with large scale database applications using partitioning/federation/sharding/proxying/replication, index tuning, I/O tuning
  • Hands-on experience with maintaining 24×7×365 database environments requiring 99.99% availability.
  • Strong understanding of master-slave/master-master replication, MySQL engines, index optimizations
  • Experience with performance monitoring and tuning, space management, capacity planning and resource utilization management
  • Experience building multi-server clusters of Linux based hosting infrastructures

Technical Skills – Required:

  • MySQL DBA experience (5+ years)
  • Innodb transaction engine (3+ years)
  • SQL performance troubleshooting and tuning (5+ years)
  • MySQL Admin for database security, performance monitoring, backup, recovery, and archival concepts and procedures (3+ years)
  • Replication design (5+ years)
  • Partitioning design (5+ years)
  • Linux OS (3+ years)
  • Amazon EC2 (1+ years)
  • Reporting Tools/ Analysis (3+ years)
  • PHP/Python/Perl or other scripting language (3+ years)
  • Java Web Application Servers (Tomcat/Resin/JBoss) (2+ years)
